We had our annual Members Day on Saturday. Had a nice crowd of folks. On that day we basicly empty out the car barn everything that can move does move. Including our Shipyard Railway Car (ran in the Bay Area between 1943-1945) an 1887 Gilbert built elevated coach which ran on the Manhatten Railway in New York City. It went from steam to electric about 1905. In other news, the Key System 186 (built 1936) for service across the Bay Bridge in to San Francisco has a professional paint job on the interior, it now matches the exterior color scheme. It is an articulated car with four sets of doors. They have been repaired and the seats are being overhauled. The plan is to run a pair of the Bridge Units to the Pumpkin Patch in late October. It will be the first time two of these Interurbans ran at the same time in many years. Ted Miles ted_miles@nps.gov |
