Post subject:  A warm welcome in Grapevine, TX

Due to a business trip to Texas, I had the chance to spend this weekend with the good folks who operate the Tarantula Train with SP 4-6-0 2248 from Grapevine to Ft. Worth, TX--which will be one of the featured attractions of ARM next month.

I'll be writing up my fuller reactions as a Brief or Article when I get home, but for now I just want to say a public thank-you to Tom and Iona from the Grapvine Steam Train (City of Grapevine) management staff, and to ace steam railroaders Troy, Bill, and William from the Fort Worth & Western Railroad which supplies the on-road operating crews.

This is an interesting operation showcasing a real lady of an engine from the pre-trailing truck, narrow-firebox era.

I can promise that everyone who comes to ARM will get a real gracious Texas-style welcome at the Tarantula Train.
