I recall seeing these boards on my one trip on the Corridor. Like the old AOL dial up tone, the analog clacking of these sign boards will soon be silenced.

Wonder if there is any historical interpretation interest?

One is in storage at Danbury Railway Museum, I believe from the New Haven station.

The one from Philadelphia's 30th Street Station has been formally requested by the RR Museum of Pa.

I seem to recall that the one from Baltimore's Penn Station is now sitting in storage somewhere at the B&O Railroad Museum, but I could be having a fake memory or something........

My understanding is that the parts are no longer in production, and that the last few are simply wearing out. I recall reading that at one replaced board site they actually set up speakers to replicate the sound of the tiles changing as an attention-getter, at least at first.

That would be at South Station in Boston. That was because many people opposed replacing it, so they did it to quell some of their argument. There board was wearing out, so it was very needed. Some Solari boards were still in production into the 2000s, so it depends on the model. Now the LEDs on the replacement boards from many stations are starting to burn out.

After 1971, there was one northbound train and one southbound train in Atlanta (ignoring the Georgia Railroad Mixed).

I recall 30th Street Station (where I changed trains to get to and from Harrisburg, PA). The first two items that always come to mind about equally is the PRR's statue to PRR Railroaders who had joined the US military and died in the service of the country and the clacking train boards that seem to be on their way out.
