Gee, when I post something good on RYPN, my internet connection bonks out. Well, I am at work now, and I have been doing some thinking. Would anyone be interested in the following writing projects I am thinking about producting for RYPN? 1. Editorial on the British preservation experience, and what I think we can and cannot take from it for application in the U.S. 2. 2 Part Article on the Southern (British) Railways "Merchant Navy, "West Country," and "Battle of Britain" locomotives. Part one would focus on development and in-serrvice operation, part two would be about the survivors. What would you all want to see first. I am not claiming to be the end all authority on either, but I have been doing lots of reading and thinking on the issue. david.wilkins@bardstown.com |

As I am not a fan of SR Bullied engines, I would be most interested in the first one, but would love to read both. With the passing of my English grandfather four years ago I have lost track (no pun intended) with goings on over in England, and would greatly appreciate any articles. I think that a good study of what we could learn from the Brits, and what we could apply here would be most welcome. They're doing a really good job. We may not be able to immitate them, but it would be instructive to know what the differences and similariteis are. Then we can figure out how to imitate them where we can, and where to come up with new solutions where we can't. I'd like to see this one. It would be my first pick. As to specific Brittish locomotives, I'm gaining a slow appreciation, and would love to learn more. I'd be glad to see that too, even if it would be my second pick.
