What is the status of the roundhouse that is/was to be built at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania at Strasburg?

This afternoon, Jeff Bleimeister, the museum director, told the crowd at the PRR 460 dedication ceremony that the bid documents have all been approved and are ready to go out with invitations to bid. Ground breaking would be in spring 2017, with completion in about 18 months. It was also announced that the Friends of the Railroad Museum is undertaking a $250,000 fund-raising project to media blast and prime paint five other locomotives that will join No. 460 in the roundhouse, with the hope that each will have its turn for a full cosmetic restoration in the future..

Did he identify the five locomotives? Likely candidates would be H10s 2-8-0 7688, L1s 2-8-2 520, K4s 4-6-2 3750, M1b 4-8-2 6755, and NKP S-2 2-8-4 757. But will they all fit?

Sadly, NKP 757 has been ignored. The fifth locomotive will be PRR B-6sb No. 1670.

It's a good selection for the house, but I wonder if the 757 would be better at a new home; maybe the museum would consider a sale or swap of some kind.

Are any pictures available of the restored 460?

I wish they would accord the 757 the respect she deserves. If they don't care about her, maybe they should consider trading her off in exchange for something like RDG 2100. Hint. Hint.

Let Reading 2100 live, and function, as a viable steamer should. I agree, the NKP 757 should go someplace to be restored, either operationally or cosmetically. The old rumor/story was RMPA wanted to trade the Berk for the I1sa, in Western New York. I question the validity of the story, but an official of RMPA once told me that was a plan. I also got shot down by one side or the other.

don't know if they would be interested, but Mad River would be a better spot for the 757.

Good move on painting the engines. I hope other organizations will pick up on that idea. It gets rid of that scrap yard look .

Maybe in the space vacated by the B6sb or 460. Certainly a worthwhile idea.

One of the most historic locomotives in the collection, that DD1 is priceless.
