Post subject:  Fairmont Heavy Duty Hi-Rail gear

Greetings!

Today our organization had two sets of Fairmont Hi-Rail gear donated to us. They had been removed from the perspective trucks and were surplus to the truck dealer.

Only one of the sets has the builders tag on it. The other, which is identical, is missing its tag. The tag has SN 20840 and symbol 154541. According to what miniscule information I can find, these are heavy duty hi-rail gear used on the larger hi-rail MOW trucks.

So now comes my questions that I hope y'all can help with. First off, what is the parts availability for these? Second, where can I find manuals and other information on this particular type of gear. Third, when adding them to a truck, what is required for them to be used, i.e., certifications, inspections and such? Lastly, did Harsco take over Fairmont, because their Series 2654 - No 1143A, is practically identical to these Fairmont sets.

I hope someone here can lead me in the right direction!

TIA

Gary Rodriguez

I find availability of parts is good for hy-rail. Harsco (nee Fairmont) in Fairmont, MN should be very helpful. (507) 235-3361.
