One of my sources tells me that today there was a bee-hive of activity at the engine-house, the lifted rail was back in place and the lights were on in the depot. Also a large dumpster just outside the depot (Dumpsters can be good and really bad news). It appears action to prepare the tracks etc. to move the former McCloud River Railroad Steamer #19 to begin its journey to Ohio is underway. It is still way to wet to prepare the track to Montague for use though. Last I knew the idea was to tow the 19 to Montague for placement on a flatcar for its trip. BTW, when you abbreviate the McCloud as MCRRR, that's not an extra R! :) Well, in it's last name it would be, but in my heart it will always be MCRRR. |

Also, this should be included as Allen Brown, the owner of Railmark Holdings has purchased the former Yreka Western. Although, it should be noted, that Railmark has had several unsuccessful railroad ventures, including the 2011 abandonment for the former GTW Michigan Air Line from Walled Lake to Wixom, MI. It does remain to be seen what is on the horizon for the YWRR. http://www.progressiverailroading.com/s ... oad--50701 |
