The recent Flimsies piece about California "pork" projects includes reference to a "vintage rail line" as part of the funding for Fort Mason (near the Golden Gate Bridge). Would this be an extension of the F Market trolley line, or something else?

Bob:

The F Line does not run near this area. I would suspect it to be some sort of local people mover around the Presido's proposed projects.

Actually, it seems to be a proposed extension to the E line.

sitting here in my office in Fort Mason center,
I hope they pull it off! The line might some day turn right on Beach Street, then go past my maritime museum building and over to the State Belt Line tunnel and into Fort Mason.

There is too much foot traffic (skate boards, bycycles etc) on the prominade to use the tracks there.

what would really make the most sense would be for the electric cars to go all the way out to the Presidio. But there are a group of wealthy water front home owners who are against anything in their neihgborhood. Except their BMWs of course.

It takes MUNI 10 years to do anything; so stay tuned! I might even see it before I retire.
