Not preservation related but an item that may be of interest, this company makes 74VDC LED E26 screw base light bulbs as replacements for incandescent bulbs. They are the 2nd item on the website listing.

Note the 65 degree directional lighting this provides which will limit the potential applications. This is not an omnidirectional light bulb like some of the household LED bulbs. It is intended for step lights, ground lights, and other directional lighting applications.

Now if I could find some good rough service 36vdc E26 or E27 base LED bulbs for my centercab ground and cab lights...

Thanks for the link.

Very much preservation related--there are a lot of preserved vintage diesels that will need various lights replaced from time to time.

If you look at the spec sheet the bulb comes in 32 & 74 VDC versions.

I must be missing it, the one sheet says 28-30v, the other has 50v, 60v, and 75v listings.

I do see where it says other voltages available lower down. I wonder what kind of quantity I would need to order.

I think the 28-30 VDC bulbs will work at 36 VDC just fine, the power supply will just run a little bit hotter.

Assuming the insulation is able to handle 36V... it'll run *cooler*. Heat is amps squared, and the switching regulator is drawing lower amps because of the higher voltage.

Is the life of LED bulbs shortened if the voltage is higher?
