I just saw an update on 2102 but I can't find the site that it came from. Anyway, the report was that nothing unexpected has been found, they are staring on firebox repair and hope to be back on the rails for Spring of 2018. |

I doubt they have done any work since October or November. Since the November progress report viewtopic.php?f=1&t=39981&hilit=2100 they have not posted any more updates on the work. They had hoped to have it fired up and earning revenue before 2100's flue time expires in (I think) 2020/2021. It is important to note though that the group is still actively promoting the project and conducting fundraising on FB by selling tickets for specially passenger car excursions on Amtrak. It should also be noted though that since they are facing eviction - being handled in the courts, that Midwest is well within their rights to lock out ASR from the roundhouse; and this is also around when Midwest started the reconstruction of the roundhouse. I hope they have enough work done that it will go towards the 1472 overhaul, since with this legal mess I dont see them making that deadline. As for 2102, my money is it being done professionally (and correctly) by the 2018 season. It helps that the RBMN has a budget and paid staff to work on the locomotive and is not dependent on volunteer hours or fundraising to get the job done. |

I think its crazy unfortunate whats going on with 2100, I hope positive resolutions come out of it and it gets back on track, we'll have to wait and see. |

If there is a lack of information from the principals, the curiosity of the rail preservation community will be aroused. Without reliable facts, speculation is bound to rise up. When I say this, I am suggesting that good information will be helpful. Accusations and self-serving comments from interested parties on either side will not serve any good purpose. If the comments can serve an instructive purpose, I welcome them. If they serve a destructive purpose, I'd rather you'd keep them to yourself, and I'll just sit back and wait to see what happens. Facts, not invective. Tom |

With an active court case, both parties are almost certainly going to keep 100% quiet. |

Last time I checked the online court docket, there wasn't much of note happening in the suit between ASR (The lessors of 2100) and Midwest (the owners of the roundhouse). The legal process can drag on a long time, even on "basic" matters, so I am not surprised. ASR's principals have wisely (and probably on advice of counsel) have decided to keep quiet online, reversing their previous, strange behavior of using sockpuppet accounts and personal attacks. The fact they've been mum is a good sign really. They can continue fundraising, and disclose information when it becomes necessary. If or when a resolution is arrived at, we may or may not know, or can divine the result from actions. Steam locomotive restoration, fundraising, and operation are difficult enough on their own. The way ASR acted throughout this process only made it worse for themselves. I can only hope the damage wasn't irrevocable, or that it doesn't make it more difficult for the efforts of other groups and organizations. |
