After being closed since May, 1998, the Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth, Georgia, re-opened to the public on October 16 and 17. With a little luck, we had two bright sunny days and that helped bring in a decent crowd.
Delays in contractor work caused by the current building boom in Gwinnett County along with changes in priorities due to the $810,000 TEA-21 funding project have changed our overall schedule. Basically, that means things are happening slower than originally planned.
Stop and see us next time you're in Atlanta. We will be open every Saturday, excluding Christmas and New Years, throughout the winter as well as the third Sunday in November. Look for a grand opening on April 8th to coincide with the museum's 30-year anniversary.
--Malcolm
Congratulations, Malcolm! If you have some time, take a while to write up a little more about the msueum, its new facilities and its concept, send it to us here at RyPN, and we'd be happy to run it as a Brief.
