First, correction: 33 is ex-9331, not 9334.

Second, personnel up there told me today (while 33 was switching freight) that 33 came within inches of retirement last year when engine problems sidelined it. It was repaired but continues to be the worst-looking piece of rolling stock on the property besides the four freight cars shoved in the weeds behind the Choo-Choo Barn.

I thought #33 recently got some new panels and a paint job? Or was that another Strasburg diesel?

Strasburg #1, the 1926 gas Plymouth, received a topnotch restoration and repaint recently, and I believe it has been honorably semi-retired.

Strasburg also has another Plymouth, #2, a more-recently-acquired 4-wheel switcher (think #1 shrunk a bit) that I think came from the nearby Holtwood power station and ran on propane. It arrived a very rusty green but is now a nice shiny red, although not with the brass and black trim of #1.

33 basically looks like a weatherbeaten workhorse.

#1 is still very much in service.

#33 is on the list for restoration to Pennsy livery. Unfortunately there are more pressing demands on our resources at the moment.

Since Thomas cleared out a couple of weeks ago, that big empty spot sure looks prime for a
turntable/roundhouse! Any kind of heads-up on the grand plan available?
