Reading the Brief on Wilmington got me to thinking about the architect Frank Furness. There are many Furness buildings within a 100-mile or so arc of Philly.

Has anyone complied an all-time list of his railroad stations?

Certainly, the B&O, Reading and CNJ featured some of his finest work. I believe the CNJ also built some Furness "copies," too.

Any lists out there?

Two great books out there an Amazon search away. "Complete Works" by George Thomas covers some of the railroad work, but I don't believe it to be complete. The other 'Architecture and the Violent Mind' is biographical. Both are really wonderful reads (at least to me). Furness was an amazing talent. I sure would like to see a O (or HO)kit of one of his stations. Not too long ago the town of Lititz, Pa. rebuilt their Furness station- and from scratch! It was torn down back in the 60's I think.

There have been several books on Furness' work. Currently in print is "Frank Furness The Complete Works, Revised Edition" by G. E. Thomas, J. A. Cohen, M. J. Lewis. Publisher is Princeton Architectural Press. See http://www.papress.com/books/1568980949.html
