Post subject:  PRR Caboose Data

Here at the Reading And Northern, we have a Pennsy N-5 caboose, which is being refurbished.
It will be for use on our freight trains as a rider-platform for our conductors on long back-up moves.

After many years of rusting in Conrail paint, there is almost nothing left of any lettering, other than the number above the end doors.

Does anyone out there have a list of car-numbers that would show what the PRR number was before it became Penn Central 19108 ?? (same Conrail number).

Also, a barely readable built date looks like 2-27. Is this right ?

Any leads would be appreciated.

By the way, the re-paint will be semi-Pennsy looking, with READING & NORTHERN where PENNSYLVANIA would be, but not a total historical restoration.

Steve,

Check out Tom Wolfgang's Conrail Caboose website. It has lots of great info including info on your cabin car. From his site, PC19108 is PRR477514. Check out the link below to his N-5 page.

Can't wait to see the cabin out in R&N lettering. This winter, we hope to get back to our heavy restoration of PRR477822 (an N-5C).

Until later,
