Post subject:  B&M 4-4-0 preservation, then and now

Boston & Maine 4-4-0 No.494, built in 1892 by Manchester Locomotive Works, has been undergoing some beautiful restoration work.

Follow the link to a series of pictures of the 494, including one taken by my father(a lifelong railfan and preservationist), in 1955.

Stephen, Thanks for your piece on the 494. We have a long way to go up in the cab and with the tender. Don't overlook the fact that the Town of Hartford, the owner, is actively planning a shelter. Footings may go in this fall.
