The State Historical Society of Iowa's Historic Preservation Office has determined Great Northern 4-6-2 No. 1355 eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. This eligibility frees a total of $73,000 in ISTEA and HRDP grant funds for running gear repairs on the locomotive. The Siouxland Historical Railroad Association will now complete the formal nomination process for the Department of the Interior.<br> lobermeyer@usa.net |
