Photographer thought this old car was later scrapped, when he ran across it in 1992:

Showing what can be done, here's that restored car in 2015:

The Knoxville & Holston River Railroad operates the Three River Rambler train out of Knoxville and has also restored two Consolidations; Rockton & Rion 2-8-0 #203 and Southern #154, with another steam restoration in the works. Nice to see that they also do excellent work on the lowly freight car!

Les,
Since your wide-ranging interest includes wood freight cars, we have several at the Western Railway Museum. They are two Sacramento Northern box cars, a caboose and a flat car, two Central California Traction Company boxes, a D&RGW box, a Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomic box, a Pacific Fruit Express reefer and a US Army box car.

I can't post pictures; but the museum web site roster has them. they all live indoors as wood cars deserve to.

Ted -

Did some checking and there's quite an extensive roster of freight equipment. Very much appreciate the info.
