| Post subject: | Al Chione Slide Data Sheets |
Members, I'm currently in the process of scanning a couple of hundred of the original Al Chione Slide Set Data Sheets. As i'm sure many others on this site have found, that many of the Chione sets we have or have purchased over the years were missing their data sheets therefore making the identification and locations of the slides difficult to sort out. I finally have found a source that is allowing me to scan their sets of notes. I have no idea how many actually sets there were. If anyone knows the answer to how many of these sets were made and sold, that would be helpful in determining if I have all the set or not. I will make the data sheets available as soon as I have completed the task of scanning all the sets I currently have in my possession. Thanks, Steve Crise |

From what I have seen of Chione's slides, he had an affinity for special trains, such as ski club trips, office car trains, etc. - as did many photographers of the era. That can make identifying his slides very difficult when just one is presented out of context from the set they are in - you see equipment in places it doesn't belong, such as PRR passenger equipment in Texas, or you see equipment of a type or vintage that don't fit the scene. The original notes may be very interesting. |

Did anything come of this project? I also have some Chione slides that I need to identify. Also have description sheets that I need to scan and make into pdf's. Frank Brehm |

I have completed scanning 1450 Chione data sheets to date. I still do not have any idea how many sets were produced. Some estimates suggest that over 3000 sets were made. If you have any data sheets you would like to contribute to this effort, please contact me through this site. - Steve Crise |
