Hallo, over thirty years ago this place near Dresden in germany has been a famous place for steam trains in the GDR. Nossen has been a junction of regional railway lines and an roundhouse. Today the roundhouse is used by the local steam society and a private railway company. The public passenger service has been finished. So today are running freight trains and sometimes special passenger trains. Like today! The diesel engine was built for norway. Sammy

Notice the water crane in place to the left of the locomotive. The narrow gauge in Radebeul Ost is really worth a ride too. https://goo.gl/maps/UVaRkR2Y2SG2 |

I see you got one past me, Sammy. Beautiful Reko Kriegslok foto, not just the water crane, but the stellwerk (interlocking tower) and the first wagon. Yes, the Lossnitzgrundbahn is worth a visit, as is the Weiseritztalbahn, the last fotos you posted. NOW, how about some information on the next Dresdener Dampflokfest ??? I must say I am very jealous of the steam preservation in Germany, especially Saxonia. Thanks for posting, Sammy |

Les, Specifically, that is a "Reko Kriegslok" a standard WWII 2-10-0 design, rebuilt by the DR at Meinengen Dampflokwerks with a new welded boiler. These are classed in the 52.80 series, and I think there were 200 of them. |
