Does the group in Eureka Springs, Arkansas still run steam? I rode the line over ten years ago and of of them was a wood burner.

We visited the Eureka Springs & Northern Arkansas in June of '97. They were still running steam at that time. There was a 2-6-0 (or 2-6-2?)operating, another that appeared serviceable, and a 2-8-2 that was unserviceable. We took the dinner train, which was powered by an SW-1. Overall, it was a nice operation and a pleasant experience.

I found the website for the railroad. The leading page describes an operating diesel and stationary steam locomotive displays. Does not seem to be good news.

I visited there a few months back to inspect a car. The future of steam was grim at that time - and the entire railroad is up for sale.

We were there in 1988 and shot the woodburner #1
plus rode the tender and watched the fireman throw in the wood. Interesting operation. If anyone is interested (doubtful) the video is "American Steam - Vol 1" which has 1361, and others.
