Post subject:  Sadsbury Twp | Six Miles of Fill on the A&S

The east branch of Octoraro Creek and historic Noble Road are framed and bound by the right of way and soaring 60’ single arch bridge of the former Pennsylvania Railroad’s Atglen & Susquehanna freight line. Man made features like those along the former A&S Branch appear to have always been part of the landscape of Southern Lancaster County. But in 1903 the eastern most segment of the A&S required almost six miles of earthen fill and massive stone arches to carry the road southwest from the Main Line across the rolling hills in Sadsbury Township toward the Susquehanna River. Learn more about this line in a new post on the blog, Photographs & History. http://michaelfroio.com/blog/sadsbury
