I went to the Vienna Transport Museum last Sunday and amongst the exhibits there is one of the batch of 42 ex 3rd Avenue Transit System cars that ended up in the City in 1948.

The example preserved there, Vienna #4208, was the last one to remain in service, being withdrawn in September 1969.
Publicity I had seen for the Museum beforehand listed the arrival of the NY cars as being one of the anniversaries (70 years since arrival) they were celebrating this year and was expecting to see photos/archive material on display accordingly. However, there was nothing in evidence anywhere.....
The museum is well worth visiting if you ever visit the City and they have spaced the exhibits out a lot better since I last went there, 12 years ago. A quick look through their guidebook, however, appears to show that this has been acheived by moving several of the former exhibits out of the Museum!!
