This beauty has been listed on Ozark for a while now I'm surprised no organization has taken up this reasonable offer for its outstanding condition. Bangor & Aroostook #507 was originally built in 1901 by Jackson & Sharp for passenger service between the Boston and Aroostook counties. In the 1920s she received a new steel frame which extended her service life. After passenger service ended in 1961 #507 finished up her career as an MOW crew car under numbering #X1054 going well into the 1980s before final retirement. I've heard of this particular car before, the owner is quite receptive. For some of our New England institutions here this might be a good project for you. I guess it's a way to limit the site to serious buyers, but I find the idea that I have to create an account to even browse the site and look at listings to be rather annoying. Annoying enough that I don't bother. Then again, I'm not going to buy the car, so no great loss to them I guess. |

Looks like Ozark has a new website so everyone needs to sign in with a new login if you have not done so already. I have always found their site an interesting one to browse through. Lots of interesting equipment. That aside, this does look like a nice car and the owner is willing to work with a buyer. Looks like it is located in Maine so a bit out of the way. Would make a nice addition on some tourist railroad some place here on the east coast. J.R.
