Post subject:  Mystery Caboose 2.0
Hi,

I figured I'd post this now for those who want to get away from all the drama happening on RyPN for awhile to help solve another caboose mystery.

Located at 679 West U. S. Highway 30 in between Valparaiso and Merrilville, IN, this caboose is another eastern caboose, and appears to be PRR or NYC. There is no ACI tag on this one and I forgot to look at the truck stamps again. Thankfully, I can barely make one out on this photo I took. It appears to say "CNW" so the trucks are likely not original.

I didn't take any other photos besides this one because I didn't know if I was on private property or not and there was some people nearby giving me some dirty looks.

As always, any help would be much appreciated!

Not listed in "Captive Cabeese" as in Valpo or any of the surrounding community names, so it's been moved there since 2008, and I'm calling it PRR on looks alone:

It does look like a PRR N5b that survived into Conrail. Note the collision posts.

The caboose west of Valparaiso, Indiana on U.S. 30 has been there for MANY years. At least 15 years ago (probably longer), I went into the smoke shop and asked if they would possibly consider donating it to Hoosier Valley. The lady I talked to said that her son had purchased the caboose and moved it to that site. At that time, she said that she had not heard from him for a number of years and would keep the caboose as she considered it his. I never followed up on it after that. It definitely could not be the caboose from Hardee's that was mentioned, if that cabin car only vanished a "few years ago".
