Project3713 is pleased to inform our supporters that the Steamtown National Historic Site has contracted with the Strasburg Rail Road to build a new firebox for Boston & Maine #3713. This is a major advancement towards the full operational restoration of the locomotive. In addition to the firebox news, work continues on the new cab, new tender cistern, tender frame, driving wheels and multiple appliances. Railfest 2018 visitors will be able to see the public debut of the cab at Steamtown. Amidst all this good news, there is still progress to be made. We are about halfway to our fundraising goal of $750K. If you’ve been looking for the right moment when your donation could help push #3713 towards completion, this is it.
