Post subject:  Vote & help the Colfax Railroad Museum get $10,000 Donation
One of our local car dealers is donating five $10,000 gifts to local nonprofits. Please help us by going to www.markquartgivesback.com and enter a write in vote for the Colfax Railroad Museum. Funds will be used to build the engine house for our new 7.5" gauge miniature railroad and help install a parking lot at the 1898 depot for visitors. You can vote as many email addresses as you have. This effort is critical for our long term financial success. You can see our efforts on our Facebook page or at www.colfaxrrmuseum.org.

They chose to do only Eau Claire and Chippewa counties for the list. Any of us in the boonies had to settle for write ins.

Not surprising it's only those two counties as this is a marketing promotion for a car dealership which may not get many new sales or referrals from out-of-town.

I for one was very pleased to receive a personal response from them thanking me for voting, and I won't hesitate to refer them (or talk positively about them) for what good that may do.

Here's an update on how things are going. I stopped by Markquart today and was told that the top 5 vote getters are around 500 each. There have been over 500 charities that have received at least 1 vote. They are not giving out vote totals for individual organizations. The person I spoke with did say we were not in the top 5 yet, but we are within range to make it there.

That being said, if everyone who is on this site were to vote, we would have a VERY GOOD chance to get one of the $10,000 donations. What that would mean for us is a similar match to help acquire our original land and buildings and enough to pave half the parking lot at our new library/archive and events center depot.

We're a smaller organization that has done a lot with minimal funding and we're not asking folks to did in and send money. Just 5 minutes of your time may make a big difference for us. The railroad community has a chance here to make a difference without having to fight the NIMBY's and doomsayers. All it takes is caring.

For those of you that don't have personal email or would like to add the second vote that is allowed, one of our friends on the Milwaukee Road site has told us of an an open email address that can be used.

Just type in any account name that you want(could be your name, nickname or avatar name) and then use

@mt2015.com

This is analogous to the old General Delivery address you could use at the Post Office. The mail that goes to this site is open view to anyone that knows the account name and the mail is deleted after 48 hours.

Just three days left to vote!

We have received over 500 votes and are somewhere in the top ten, and very close to the donation level. If you haven't submitted your allowable two votes please help us out. If you don't have a second email account, use the generic email generator with (account name) @mt2015.com that we were given. This is like the old USPS General Delivery address and holds any mail for 48 hours before trashing.

Thanks to everyone who has already voted. We will let everyone know this weekend how it turns out.
