From early February until late April 2003 I was working in the port area of Corpus Christi, TX, and I came across a rusty old passenger car behind a fence near the intersection of Texaco Street and Market Street. The rail crew from the Corpus Christi Terminal Railroad couldn’t tell me much about its origin but they said it was in very poor condition and it wouldn’t be wise to even step foot inside it because the floor might give way.

Here are some pictures of it that I found online:

Using Google Earth I can see that by 2008 it was moved a short distance to a location close to the intersection of Burleson Street and Rincon Road where it is apparently on panel track next to active track. Does anyone know the story behind this car? There seems to be no effort at restoration or preservation and instead it's just slowly rotting away.

Wow, that poor car. Looks like it was really nice once upon a time. I don't think the salty air has been kind to it though.
