Just a note of information concerning the newspaper link below. The Willamette locomotive recently donated to the Mt. Rainier Scenic is former Rayonier No. 2, bought by Rayonier employee Jim Gertz when it was sold for scrap in 1962. He built a metal shed around it in Port Angeles, but never got much more done. The engine was originally J. Neils Lumber No. 6 at Klickitat, WA. There is another Willamette on display in the park at in Port Angeles, Rayonier No. 4, originally originally Long-Bell No. 701 from Ryderwood, WA. http://www.tribnet.com/news/local/story/2042996p-2142822c.html ryarger@rypn.org |
