Post subject: Surviving World Steam Locomotives updated on CD-ROM

Surviving World Steam Locomotives is a program for Microsoft Windows.
It includes a database containing roughly 75% of the steam locomotives
still in existence worldwide. Surviving World Steam Locomotives does
*not* require an Internet connection; so you can install it on a notebook
computer and take it with you on your next trip, even to locations
without a phone connection. It is currently available on CD-ROM as well
as floppy disks.
The database has been updated for the month of November, 1999. It now
contains 16,100 steam locomotives; up 1,400 since the program's last
update in April, 1999. Roughly 1,500 records have also been updated or
completed; several duplicates have also been identified and deleted.
The database also includes 240 photographs and three sound clips. The
photographs include such rare locomotives as a Dickson-built 0-6-2T,
the only 0-10-0T in the United States, and a "gypsy locomotive", as well
as dozens of locomotives overseas. You can also add your own photographs
to the database, my personal copy has over 1700 photographs to date.
Those who have already purchased a copy are being offered an update.
This update includes nearly 100 pictures that do not ship with the current
program. Among these pictures are a "virtual steam parade", made up of the
entire roster of steam locomotives at Railfair '99 and a steam parade in
Hungary. Updates also include an "Update Wizard", which transfers pictures
and sound clip links to the update from your current copy before overwriting
it. Therefore, you do not have to worry about losing your picture collection
with each update.
To learn more about "Surviving World Steam Locomotives", and to order
your copy, please see my website at:
http://www.pernet.net/~james1/us_steam
Thank you for your time.
-James Hefner
Hebrews 10:20a
