Did I read this story right? Seems a rail preservation group has been given money to build a replica depot down under. The government agency that gave the money wants an authentic recreation of the original depot, but the preservation group wants no part of authenticity and prefers something else! What kind of preservation is that? http://collie.yourguide.com.au/detail.asp?class=news&subclass=local&category=general%20news&story_id=188893&y=2002&m=10 ryarger@rypn.org |

Been following Oz news for a while Bob. The situation is there isn't a depot left to preserve. The exact specifications for a new building based on the old lost one is under review. The council had been pushing the non profit to build a more exact replica than the non profit could afford but wasn't providing the funds to make up the cost difference. The non profit wants to build a building that resembles the lost one from the outside but use modern materials and have a more modern interior which they can afford to build.
