Hello All

The last of the equipment was moved from the Tobyhanna Army Depot on October 28th. The lineup included:

-Former ST J & LC wooden caboose on Trailer Train Flat.
-Former B&M red wooden coach on Trailer Train Flat.
-3 unit former Rutland pile driver (includes spacer flat, pile driver and tender).
-Former B&M wooden combine painted red white and blue.
-Former Rutland wooden combine painted red on one side and yellow on the other.

-Additionally a former B&M wooden box car with rare fox trucks was move directly from Tobyhanna to the recreated ice house at Tobyhanna Lake.

-Also, two former Erie stillwell coaches were moved to RMDI at Pittston by the DL on 11/1/02.

Oh P.S. I finally updated the Scrantontrains site, lots of new stuff and a Steamtown photo gallery too!

Hi Dave,

Thanks for keeping us up to date on the moves.

Does anyone have a final disposition list for these goodies?

Regarding the Stillwell cars, where exactly have they been moved from & where have they gone? What is the plan for these cars?

Intersting Note.

The Stillwells WERE supposed to be moved from Steamtown last week, but still remain there. There were three total and two were supposed to be moved to a locomotive rebuilder in Pittston (unknown planns from there). The third was to remain at Steamtown, though I'm unsure weather it is being held by them, or has been given to another group. At this point, all three remain is Scranton.

All three Stillwells were still in the Steamtown yard as of Saturday, coupled to the two Long Island cars. Steamtown staff mentioned that all three would be (most likely) the next items to leave town. They still needed to get some of the coach seats stored in the Stillwells out before they can be shipped out. According to what Steamtown personnel have mentioned, all three of the Stillwells and the two Long Island Ping Pong cars are going to a a new home somewhere in Pennsylvania and will be restored.

I happened to be in Scranton on Saturday to inspect two other pieces of the surplus Steamtown rolling stock that the Chemung Valley RHS may acquire and provide a new home to. I won't say yet which pieces they are, though one is more-or-less mentioned on our website.
