What type of engine is this and who owns it? Also who owns the NP 4-6-0 that was talked about in the 2507 thread.

Great Northern #2507 is a class P-2 4-8-2 built by Baldwin in 1923 for passenger service on the GN and was retired in 1957. In 1962, the 2507 was donated to Klickitat County by the SP&S and placed on display near Maryhill, on the Columbia River. The SP&S donated the GN locomotive since all of the SP&S steam had already been scrapped (except #539, donated to the city of Vancouver, WA and #700 which had been donated to the City of Portland, OR). The locomotive was barged from Maryhill to Pasco a "few years" back with the intention of restoring it to operation. The restoration effort broke down and it's currently stored on a spur at the east end of the Port of Pasco waiting for it's fate to be decided by Klickitat County.

The NP 4-6-0 is number 1364, built by Baldwin in 1902. The locomotive is on display in a city park, and is owned by the city of Pasco. I think she's a class S4, but I could be wrong. An almost identicle locomotive is under restoration for operation near Yakima.

Northern Pacific 4-6-0 #1354 was built by Baldwin in 1902. It was donated to the city of Pasco and placed on display in Volunteer Park.

Brian: Nice photo of a nice engine which looks well cared for considering it is outside and in a park. One question; is that NP herald on the tender authentic? Did NP locomotives (perhaps at the end of the steam era) actually have that herald applied to tenders? Thanks!

NP steam locomotives like the one at Pasco did not have the NP Monad logo on their tenders in regular service. This seems to have been added when the engines were being prepared for park display. For example, I've noticed that the Monad was added to NP 328 when it was placed on display at Stillwater, Minnesota in the 1950s, although it never wore it in regular service. Same goes for the NP 2-6-2 at Duluth, and most others.

Correction to above note:
NP 1354 is on display in the park in Pasco; NP 1364 is a sister NP S-4 built by Baldwin in 1902. NP 1364 is at the Northern Pacific Railway Museum in Toppenish, WA, about 70 miles west of Pasco and 17 miles SE of Yakima. It was donated to the Metropolitan Park Department of Tacoma and placed on display at Point Defiance Park. The photo is of it on display there. The link is to the current restoration project. The site will soon be updated as much has been accomplished since the page was published.
