So, I was enjoying this video from IRM, and a question occurred to me, where did you get all the engineers? https://youtu.be/-CS18kmXGSg |

I don’t know of another museum that can operate that many diesels. IRM has also displayed run buys with engines under full load by pulling a second engine that is applying dynamic braking. I believe the Milwaukee Dynamometer could be in between the two units to measure at least the draw bar pull. I know the MU monitors are also working. Diesel Days is always a pretty impressive event with UP usually supplying some nice static engine display as well. |

Some volunteers have previous experience as engineers, others have been trained at IRM. IRM's volunteer pool is well over 100 people, and the Diesel Days event draws volunteers from many different areas of the museum, including the track, steam, and electric car departments. If you'd like to see the event from an engineers point of view, try this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hfs5DU-1ZuY Jeff Delhaye |

I'm glad I asked. The answers have been interesting. |
