From the Narrow Gauge Discussion board: Attention all you So. California NG Rail Enthusiasts. Because of the enthusiastic response that Knott's had for its GT&C RR 50th Anniversary celebration January 12, 2002, they have decided to sponsor "Railroad Enthusiasts Days" on January 11th and 12th, 2003! Sort of a 51st Anniversary. Planned events include the normal shop tour and photo run by's. However, this year we will be able to feature a complete freight train complements of the GT&C shop crew. We have D&RGW Box car #3350, D&RGW open Gondola #5576, D&RGW Stock Car # 9519 and Caboose #0402. Come and see (and Photograph) the eclectic mixture of cars and parts that were used to create these "built to original D&RGW erection drawings" special cars. With both locomotives now operational, there are many photo opportunities that will be made available. Also, the Galloping Goose has just gone through an extensive rebuild of the box section and has been restored to its late 1940's appearance. This is late breaking news, so the official announcement brochures will be out in about 10 days or so and the Knott's web site will be updated with more information. wyld@sbcglobal.net |
