"Hole yard"

Usage: "The service track, double main lines and the adjacent 'hole yard' lay on a long curve for about three-fourths of a mile."

According to one RR dictionary I have, here's somewhat of a definition:

HOLE—Passing track where one train pulls in to meet another.

So could a "hole yard" involve more than one such passing track, or something like that?

Who knows? :-)
