I was in the Dallas/FW area this past weekend and drove up to see the Tarantula Train. On Sunday they had only two passenger cars being pulled by their diesel. A sign on the door said the steam engine was out of service.
I walked back to the shed and saw 2248 there and it was slightly warm from the day before. A crew member said it had a leaky blow down valve and some spring trouble.
Its boiler jacket has been repainted to dark grey. Still has the brass trim.
