From the Trains Magazine forum, a fellow posted this photo of his grandfather in the engineer's seat, curious about what locomotive model it is. He says it is a Chicago & Northwestern EMD unit: https://i.imgur.com/SvZzvS6_d.jpg?maxwi ... ity=medium Any help would be appreciated. Also, what kind of brake stand is that? |

From the control layout and window profile it appears to be a covered wagon of some sort: F unit. 24 RL brakes were popular in that era. Two of my first generation EMDs and my Alco cab unit all have it. |

Possibly a variety of DE-24-T brake valve. One of the difficulties of identifying the brake valves used with the 24-RL system is that there are so many ways of assembling the various filling pieces, of which there are about 7, not counting at least 5 different tops. |
