See link below. I think these are ex-Porto cars, but not sure. Anyone have photos? http://www.aspentimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?Site=AT&Date=20021106&Category=NEWS&ArtNo=211050006&Ref=AR ryarger@rypn.org |

Post subject: | Lisbon Cars in Aspen |
I don't have photos. I corresponded with Aspen last year about the cars. They are ex-Lisbon cars with British motors and running gear. Bodies are in fair condition as the cars have been outdoors for many years. At the time I inquired, the city preferred the cars go where they would be operated, not scrapped or parted-out. Aren't the Lisbon cars meter gauge? That could limit their usefullness here in America. ryarger@rypn.org |

There is also (or maybe was, I know they sold a car to a community in Canada) a museum in Minnesota that has/had at least 1 Lisbon car. They are a 90cm gauge or just a fraction under 3 feet. I've also heard these cars described as being about 3/4 the size of a U.S. trolley. The link below is for the Aspen trolley website. There are plenty of pictures there. I hope they don't give up. http://www.aspentrolley.com/index.html wbaoffice@ameritech.net |

Post subject: | How effective are the batteries? |
I note via links from the Aspen trolley link provided that one old trolley has apparently been converted to a 48-volt battery system of operation. Anyone know how well this worked out? I wouldn't think it would have much range. ryarger@rypn.org |
