An old roundhouse in Temuco, Chile has been renovated into museum and cultural facility. They built a translucent PVC dome over the turntable to enclose the roundhouse, which had apparently been heavily damaged in a number of earthquakes. The result is less-authentic, but interesting. The site appears to contain a few ruins from the steam era including a coaling tower. ![]() https://www.archdaily.com/918681/railwa ... rquitectos |

Looks beautiful to me. All that equipment is protected, and there appears to be lots of room for future additions. |

Found this web page about the museum. Pictures show it before the covering over the turntable was installed: https://www.welcomechile.com/temuco/pablo-neruda-national-railway-museum.html |

Maybe 40 years ago, Rail Classics had an article about steam in Chile, featuring pictures of this place before it was prettied up for tourists.... |
