Former White Pass & Yukon street trackage is being removed in White Horse, Yukon Territory. An interesting sidelight is that the was last used for a heritage trolley line, something I just found out about in the story!

I asked about this, and received this note from the MacBride Museum of Whitehorse:

Quote:
MacBride operated the trolley for Yukon Government.

We do not own it. Yukon owns it.

This year the Yukon Government decided not to fund the trolley and this week they are removing some of the ties.

MacBride would be willing, and we are able, to run the trolley safely and effectively. However Yukon would need to provide the historical level of funding that they provided previously to another NGO and to us.

Feel free to send your concerns to Minister Richard Mostyn at the Yukon Government.

It would be sad if yet another urban heritage trolley line met its demise after years of successfully generating interest in a downtown area. I hope there is a way it keeps running.
