| Post subject: | The Passing of a Great Preservationist |
Just wanted to let everybody know of the passing of Don Mills as of 6:30 PM on Monday, September 2, 2019. Don Mills was an absolutely exceptional man of integrity and honor in the rail preservation movement. He was key to Collis P Huntington Railway Historical Society’s success in many different capacities. He was also instrumental in helping to preserve the Eastern Kentucky Railway legacy, a railroad that ran between Greenup, Kentucky and all the way past Grayson, Kentucky. He also wrote a history book about the Kanawha and Michigan Railroad, which is the modern Norfolk Southern West Virginia Secondary. He also was a big proponent of Operation Lifesaver. He was also a true follower of Christ, which is the most important part of all. He was a prominent member in his church and also did a lot in his community. He was always a shining light for those who needed to be shown out of the darkness. Most importantly, he was one of my best friends. If you knew him, just know that he’s now riding the rails up in heaven. I’m gonna miss you Don. |
