Post subject:  Cornell Roads

The so-called "Cornell Roads" consisted of three or four railroads owned by Thomas Cornell and his Cornell Steamboat Company.

Which roads did he own? When incorporated? When abandoned or acquired by other roads? etc.?

The following is from the book, "The Ulster & Delaware ... Railroad Through the Catskills", by Gerald Best, pub. Golden West Books 1972

Rondout & Otsego (std. gauge) - chartered April 3, 1866, reorged and renamed New York, Kingston & Syracuse RR - May 9, 1872, to Ulster and Delaware June 12th, 1875, sold Feb 1,1932 to New York Central

Delaware & Otsego (std. gauge) May 5, 1887, leased to U&D May 1, 1891

Stony Clove & Catskill Mountain RR (3' gauge), orged January 18, 1881, merged with this name into U&D June 1, 1893, std gauged June 26, 1899

Kaaterskill RR (3' gauge), orged November 25, 1882, merged with this name into U&D June 1, 1893, std gauged June 26, 1899
