I have not kept up with this board for some time, so please excuse me if this is redundant.

Here's a new website which is chronicaling the latest restoration efforts on WP F7 #918D, which is owned by the Pacific Locomotive Assocation, Inc. There's plenty of background information about the locomotive's "phase I" restoration from 1982-1989 during which it was returned to service. The latest "phase II" efforts are progressing towards a completion of the locomotive's external restoration. A brief video clip of the locomotive's most recent operation (on Nov. 2nd) can be viewed as well.

This nice WP F7 website illustrates how easy the internet has made reporting on railway preservation. In the days of L&RP, producing an article like this would have taken a couple of months of writing, editing, phone calls and letters back and forth before the story went into print. Today, we simply provide a link to the URL and the job is done. The only disadvantage is that there is now so much information available that there isn't time enough to read it all!
