Small potatoes compared to some accomplishments but I thought this was an awesome deed. This snow plow is a really great pc of equipment and beautifully restored. Slept overnight in it on its journey to Wi over in Kewaunee after is boat ride across Lake Mi. Have a tender spot for her.

Besides the snow plow I though the picture of BC&GA RR#6 was fascinating. Unique boiler design. Lower MI had some very interesting short lines that I know very little about. They seem to pop up from time to time but never front page stuff?

Some headlite history: "The plow headlight is certain to raise some questions as the headlight number boards have the number "6" in them while the plow is numbered "1". The reason for this discrepancy is that the BCG&A apparently salvaged the headlight from their 2-8-0 locomotive #6. The BCG&A purchased the #6 from the Colorado & Midland in 1920 and later purchased new Pyle National (PN) headlights for the secondhand locomotive (CM #51). The PN headlight remained on the #6 locomotive until it was disposed of. At a later date the BCG&A pulled the old #6 headlight out of inventory and installed it on top of the cupola of the Russell Plow. The BCG&A never changed out the side number boards so we decided to do the same".

"The next time you're in Coach Shed #1 be sure to check out the #6 headlight on the front of the plow".

To be more precise, the Mid-Continent PHPbb system does not authorize us to download the associated content. Period.

Can you edit the links to ones that work? Or get Mid-Continent to authorize permissions to access the ones as provided, at least for RyPN sobscribers or individuals who would be willing to register with the Mid-Continent BBS?

John -

Thanks for "fixing" the thread so that we can see the photos of the Boyne City, Gaylord & Alpena snowplow. And I agree from the photo that ex-Colorado Midland 2-8-0 # 6 had a rather unique boiler. The CM was a rather storied railroad and I believe that all of their locomotives were scrapped, including ones that were sold to various short lines such as the Consolidation that ended up in Michigan on the BCG&A. The number 6 headlight may be the only steam locomotive artifact still surviving!
