I have done a Google search and came up empty, I want to know when Soo Line caboose 269 was built , any major rebuilding, and when it was taken out of service. Thanks in advance for any info. Mike |

Soo 269 was built by AC&F in June of 1913, the first of a lot of 20 cars numbered 269-288. These cars originally had full wood underframes and cupolas with vertical sides. This group of cars received steel center sills in the early twenties, retaining the truss rods. If the car now has the typical slant side cupola (I assume it has) this would be a replacement done sometime after that cupola design became the standard replacement cupola in 1921. Where is this car preserved? I don't have retirement dates, but can inquire further. |

It's not really preserved , it was partly burned and rot got to it, it was complete except for the trucks, couplers and brake cylinder before it was burned, most of the metal parts have been donated to help restore other equipment. I have what's left, but it's beyond reasonable restoration. |
