Some of the equipment on the "Valpo Dummy" came from the EL/Conrail Cleveland-Youngstown commuter train after it's demise.

Specifically EL Coaches 1301, 1304, 1305, 1306, 1308

I know that on May 10, 1979 the ICC ordered 4-month extension of Chicago-Valparaiso "dummies"; one train now operates with a mix of P70's, Erie Lackawanna and Amtrak coaches ...

Pictures from May 1979 of two ex-EL coaches

There is a photograph from 7/7/1979 with what appears to be an EL 1301 series coach

I know the last Conrail run occurred on 26 October 1979. Amtrak takes over on 29 October 1979.

So what happened to them after that?

I see a reference for all those cars in Randall's Streamliner Cars Vol 3 (1982) with a "Retired 1977" which can't be right since Conrail was using them until at least July and likely October 1979.

Randall also states "Sold to Howie Samuelson." for the same cars.

Does anyone have any insight? I know 301/1301 is the "Ghost Car" of Sayre.

Any help is appreciated.
