Post subject:  RIP Harry Home

Retired CN Locomotive Engineer and avid steam preservationist Harry Home has passed away.

May he rest in peace.

Thank you for the notice. His contributions to preservation were numerous.
Back in 1980, the NRHS held its convention in Toronto. If memory serves, two trips were run by CN with engine No. 6060, one north, to the Washago area, another south to Niagara Falls.
Mr. Home was down for those trips and 6060 was soon to be presented to the province of Alberta. I recall him at Niagara Falls while the locomotive was being watered. He ceremoniously took off his cap and swiped up a good-sized dab of grease off one of the rod bearings. He placed the cap back on his head with the grease prominent. She was soon to be his baby again!
6060 was returned to Alberta.Again from memory, she traveled the 1,700 miles under steam, towed in a CN freight with Home in the cab.
