Post subject:  Coming back to Indiana?

Seeing the recent thread on the Baldwin VO-1000 diesel switcher that was part of the Indiana Transportation Museum collection at Noblesville, Indiana, got me to wondering about another part of the ITM roster. Nickel Plate Road 2-8-2 #587 was moved in pieces from the Noblesville site to Kentucky, with the idea that ITM would eventually return it to Indiana. With the reported difficulty that ITM is having in working out a new location in Logansport (or elsewhere), I wondered if the plans were still to return the Mike to the Hoosier state, where it spent much of its active railroad career.

I have no dog in this fight, but I wouldn't foresee 587 leaving KSCO until it's under steam and under her power. That move was as much to save ITM's most prized possession from being sold by the courts as much as it was due to the uncertainty of her possibly getting scrapped.

Wishing ITM the best, but it seems like they have quite an uphill climb in front of them. Anyone know why they haven't been able to make something click in Logansport?
