Post subject:  ASTA SP Mk-5 786 Updates

Is anyone on RYPN in the know as to the current status on ASTA's SP Mk-5 2-8-2 No.786. I think it's been pretty well rehashed that ASTA is focused on diesel power as the primary motive power for their Hill Country Flyer but there is still a core group slowly working away on the 786. Is there still more driver journal box work required before the frame can be set back on the drivers?

I heard last year that they were starting to mount an effort to build an enclosed structure to get the engine's components out of the weather and support better working conditions for working on the engine but no mention of it on their website.

Thanks,

Rob Gardner
