This is great news, especially considering the rarity these days of both the Alco HH660 and survivors of the DL&W’s locomotive fleet. Sixty years after the merger with the Erie, four former Lackawanna engines return to the Scranton area, five if you count the visits to Taylor by Reading & Northern 800, aka DL&W 509.

Two of the principals of GVT have posted on several Facebook groups that they would be open to acquiring any other early DL&W diesels if they are out there.

Glad she's found a new home and hopefully eventual preservation when her running days are over, but surprised to hear this news. Just a year ago they got it operable again at the Port of Indiana and returned it to service.

Wonder why they had a change of heart not long after getting her Woodward governor repaired?
